A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Jarika Tasnim Disha, 19, on a four-day remand in a murder case over the death of her friend, former Bangladesh Air Force officer KM Tahsif Souri.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain passed the order after police sought a seven-day remand following Disha's arrest from her Kafrul residence around 2:00 am on Sunday, Additional Public Prosecutor Muhammad Shamsud Doha Sumon said.

In a forwarding report, police said Uttara CCTV footage from the night of 27 October showed Disha accompanying Tahsif to Nest Bar and Restaurant, CP Five Star Snacks several times and a motorcycle garage, while call records revealed multiple phone conversations.

Police said Disha's statements must be cross-checked with Tahsif's junior friend Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dip, 23, as preliminary findings indicate Dip's involvement in the murder.

Taken into custody from Mohammadpur by the Police Bureau of Investigation on Thursday night, Dip was placed on a four-day remand on Saturday after investigators said he called Tahsif out around 6:00 am on 27 October.

Following a 999 call around 4:30 pm on 28 October, police recovered Tahsif's floating body from the Turag river near Uttarkhan's Rajabari Ghat and identified him from an iPhone found in his trouser pocket during the inquest.

Tahsif's father, KM Eneyetul Karim, filed the murder case against unknown persons with Uttarkhan Police Station on Saturday, alleging his son had been killed and dumped in the river to conceal the crime.
