Crude bomb explosions were reported across multiple areas of Dhaka on Friday, including Malibagh, Mohakhali, Agargaon and Jatrabari. The detonations began in the afternoon and continued into the night, with several devices thrown from elevated flyovers onto busy roads below, according to police officials.
At least ten crude bombs exploded across six locations, including Babubazar and Moghbazar, while an auto-rickshaw driver sustained severe spinal injuries in Jatrabari. Later that night, an empty passenger bus was set ablaze outside Kafrul Police Station before firefighters brought the fire under control within twenty minutes.
Additional explosions occurred opposite the Bangladesh Television building in Rampura around 11:00pm, following earlier blasts outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday. Officers at local police stations said they were examining surveillance footage from flyover entrances and surrounding roads to identify the individuals responsible for detonating the explosives.
In response to the incidents, police intensified security checkposts across the capital on Friday night to prevent sabotage. Officers searched motorcycles and suspicious vehicles at key intersections, including the Hanif Flyover entrance in Gulistan, with Sub-Inspector Biman Tarafder saying that motorbikes could be used for sabotage.

At least 31 people were killed, including 16 police personnel, after a suicide car bombing struck a police headquarters mosque in northwestern Pakistan on Friday. The blast targeted worshippers gathering for Friday prayers in Kohat before armed assailants engaged officers in a gun battle.
Provincial police chief Zulfikar Hameed said a car laden with explosives struck the mosque entrance before security forces killed six attackers during the shootout. Ittehadul Mujahideen, a faction of the Pakistani Taliban, said it carried out the assault, which injured at least 75 people.
The bombing followed an explosion in neighbouring Hangu district on Thursday that killed six soldiers, which prompted military raids that killed ten suspected militants. Islamabad said armed groups orchestrate cross-border strikes from Afghan territory, though officials in Kabul denied providing sanctuary to insurgent factions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the bombing and ordered authorities to expedite medical treatment and rescue efforts for the injured victims. The Ministry of Interior said such violence would not undermine national resolve as security personnel cordoned off the area to conduct search operations.

Law enforcement launched the drive following intelligence that a group of 25 to 30 people was gathering on the second floor of the mosque. Police said the gathering was allegedly led by a man named Shihab Uddin before officers intervened.
Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ibn-e-Mizan said the individuals were detained based on intelligence information. He said verification and screening of their identities and backgrounds are underway while authorities examine potential links to militant activities.
Members of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit also arrived at the mosque following the operation. Police said the overall security situation in the area is being closely monitored as investigators examine the motives of the detainees.

Police recovered the decomposed body of ten-year-old Kamrunnahar Koli from a pond in Pabna Sadar upazila on Wednesday, seven days after she went missing. Locals spotted a submerged bag near her Kulunia village home before alerting law enforcement officers.
Investigators arrested grocery shopkeeper Md Mostafa Kamal and his tenant Md Easin on Thursday over the murder. Police said the suspects brought Koli into a bedroom on 9 September, raped and strangled her, and hid her body under a bed before dumping it.
An enraged crowd attacked and vandalised Mostafa's residence on Friday afternoon after details of the crime spread through the community. Officers present at the scene evacuated the suspect's relatives and protected household valuables, but were unable to prevent structural damage to the building exterior.
Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Torikul Islam said the deployed force was too small to disperse the large mob. He said nobody was injured during the disturbance, while the court sent both arrested suspects to jail awaiting further legal proceedings.
