Former airman KM Tahsif Souri jumped into the Turag River near Rajabari Ghat on Tuesday night while fleeing two men in police uniforms, his friend and business partner Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dip told investigators.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Additional DIG Enayet Hossain Mannan said on Friday that officers are verifying Dip's claim, CCTV footage, and drug-dealer angles after recovering a motorcycle in Tongi's Mazar slum.

Dip was detained before being shown arrested in a case filed by Tahsif's father, KM Enayetul Karim, who filed an Uttarkhan murder case against unidentified people on Friday night, said Tongi River Police Inspector Firoz Uddin.  Dip will be produced before a court today. Taken from Mohammadpur on Thursday night, Dip was handed to River Police around midnight.

PBI Inspector Sajedur Rahman said Dip claimed they visited Mazar slum before Dip returned alone at 2:30 am, alongside claims they parted in Uttara around midnight after a workshop and Ashkona dinner.

Citing 28-year-old Tahsif's pilot-training swimming certificate, his father rejected the chase claim as a diversion, while police await the Suhrawardy Hospital autopsy report after Wednesday's recovery.

Tahsif, a former Bangladesh Air Force flight lieutenant, left his Uttara home on Tuesday evening and did not return. River police recovered his body from the Turag near Rajabari Ghat in Uttarkhan on Wednesday afternoon.
