The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) is working to attract an additional $5 billion in US investment over the next four and a half to five years.

The 30th US Trade Show, scheduled for 5–7 November in Dhaka, is expected to help achieve the target.

AmCham President Syed Mohammad Kamal said Bangladesh received around $5 billion in US investment over the past 15 years. He said this while speaking at a press conference in Dhaka on Monday,

He said the chamber discussed the new investment target with the government and raised it with the prime minister on 11 August.

Syed Mohammad Kamal noted that energy security remains the most important factor for investors. He added that the chamber is prioritising sectors where US technology and innovation can generate greater value addition.

AmCham expects to receive a government energy roadmap soon. It also expects the trade show to attract 10 to 12 new companies to invest in Bangladesh.

Representatives of American chambers from different countries and prospective foreign investors will attend the exhibition. It will remain open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.

Organisers said 36 companies and seven startups will participate across 63 booths.

Participating US firms include Caterpillar, Chevron, ExxonMobil, MetLife, Citigroup, Mastercard, Visa, Colgate-Palmolive, Philip Morris International, PepsiCo, Costco, PPG, UPS and Cargill.

The exhibition will feature dedicated zones for power and energy, IT and the digital economy, banking, consumer goods, manufacturing and logistics, education and agribusiness, alongside startup, carnival shopping and heritage zones.

Industry experts and government officials will also join six thematic seminars on energy, healthcare, IT, women in leadership, SelectUSA and bilateral trade.

Launched in 1992, the trade show returns after a two-and-a-half-year gap as AmCham marks its 30th anniversary.
